I officially started this activity 74 years ago! But it seems that the core of the word "university" first appeared in 1913. My colleagues from the Faculty of History are now "digging" to find documents attesting academic activity in Galați since 1913. So, we can say that we are also celebrating 109 years since the first historical attestation of our university.

February 4 is World Cancer Day, a day designed to raise awareness and inform about the disease to improve prevention mechanisms, and preventive education in the field. Now, 1 in 4 deaths in Europe is caused by cancer. At this moment, Romania is in third place in Europe in terms of mortality from oncological causes, preventable through investigations, treatments, and controls.

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected cancer patients due to delayed detection or change in medication.

"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, through the Faculty of Letters, the Department of French Language and Literature, in collaboration with the University of Paris Nanterre, organizes joint courses and seminars, during students and professors from Galati interact with students and professors from the French capital. UI Green Metric World University is an Universitas Indonesia initiative launched in 2010 to highlight universities actively involved in reducing carbon emissions and combating global climate change.

The Green Metric World University UI ranking saw a significant increase in participants, from 95 universities in 35 countries in 2010 to 956 universities in 84 countries in 2021.

"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati obtained the first place in the national competition PNCDI III 2015-2020 - Program 1 - Development of the national research-development system, Subprogram 1.2 - Institutional performance, 2021 competition for Institutional development projects - Funding projects of excellence in RDI (PFE-CDI), Energy, Environment and Climate Change. The project entitled "Excellence and involvement in intelligent development based on research and innovation at "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galați (DJUG) - DYNAMIC " will be implemented in the period 2022-2024 and will have a funding of 6,134,000 RON.
