The second and third-year students from the specializations of the Faculty of Naval Architecture from "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati participated yesterday in a meeting with representatives of the Damen Galați Shipyard. "In classroom D 01, we had guests from Damen, who told the young people about the opportunities of a career at the Shipyard and the possibility to be supported during the academic year with private scholarships if they have good results at school. We are glad that Damen's private scholarship program has resumed after the pandemic period, and we are waiting for student’s CV's for pre-selection, said Associate Professor Gabriel Popescu, Ph.D. Dean of the Faculty of Naval Architecture".


"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati is included in the global Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2022. For the second consecutive year, the institution occupies the 5th position among the 13 prestigious Romanian universities and is in the margin of 801-1000 in the general ranking.
 


The REXDAN project - a 20 million euros research project, was presented to the European Parliament in a special audience.
 


"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati participated yesterday in the official ceremony of the VIA Cahul Tourist Cluster, which took place inside the "Nicolae Botgros" Palace of Culture in Cahul. The VIA Cahul cluster is a tool for economic development in the Cahul region and aims to attract over 40 actors interested in tourism development in this region, representing tourism businesses, public authorities, research-development-innovation institutions, and catalyst institutions.


The Naval Architecture Research Center, within “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, invites you to participate on Saturday, April 30, at 11.00, on the Danube Cliff, the Miniport pontoon, at the launch of a floating unit. The prototype, catamaran type, with radio control, was designed by a mixed team of researchers from the Faculty of Naval Architecture and the Faculty of Automation, Computer sciences, Electronics and Electrical engineering and aims to collect plastic waste from the water surface.


I officially started this activity 74 years ago! But it seems that the core of the word "university" first appeared in 1913. My colleagues from the Faculty of History are now "digging" to find documents attesting academic activity in Galați since 1913. So, we can say that we are also celebrating 109 years since the first historical attestation of our university.


The Department of Lifelong Learning and Technologic Transfer of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati organizes the lifelong learning course “English language. Specialized languages”. The course has 714 hours (60 credits) and it will start on 01.04.2022.
 



"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, through the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Psychiatric Hospital "Elisabeta Doamna" and in partnership with the Romanian Academy, organizes on March 23-27 in Galati, the European Conference on Psychiatry and Mental Health "Galatia 2022". The event will take place entirely online, on a platform specially created for the event. This year's theme is "Interdisciplinarity in Psychiatry."
 


International Women's Day with Science is marked annually on February 11 to encourage and support women's access and participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education, training, and research at all levels.
 


February 4 is World Cancer Day, a day designed to raise awareness and inform about the disease to improve prevention mechanisms, and preventive education in the field. Now, 1 in 4 deaths in Europe is caused by cancer. At this moment, Romania is in third place in Europe in terms of mortality from oncological causes, preventable through investigations, treatments, and controls.

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected cancer patients due to delayed detection or change in medication.
