An interdisciplinary team of researchers from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, consisting of Victor Romeo IONESCU from "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati (DJUG), Monica Laura ZLATI from "Stefan cel Mare" University of Suceava, Valentin Marian ANTOHI (DJUG), Silvius STANCIU (DJUG), Svetlana MIHAILA from Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Galina BADICU from Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, won the Silver Medal at the 14th Edition of the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT, Iași, 26-28 May 2022.


The students of the Faculty of Engineering participated, between May 24-26, 2022, in the 11th Edition of the National Conference of Students and Students in the Field of Engineering Sciences, Tehnonav Junior, organized by "Ovidius" University of Constanța. The students from Galaţi presented three works, two of which were appreciated by the members of the jury as being very valuable.


From Paper Boat (a competition of boats made exclusively from paper, which had to stay afloat, with small steel weights on board), they went to build the first life-size boat, made of plastic cans, to float on Lake Brates, full of passengers. These are the first-year students from the Faculty of Naval Architecture of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galați, who built, in five weeks, a plastic can boat 2.5 meters long, 1.7 meters wide, 0.7 meters high, weighs 36 kilograms, which allows two people to board.


The Faculty of Automation, Computer Sciences, Electronics, and Electrical Engineering, was successfully represented at the fourth edition of the "PIC4ALL Microcontroller Contest", organized by the Maritime University of Constanța in collaboration with Microchip, on May 13, 2022. This year's edition was a hybrid, the participants being undergraduate and master's students from universities in Constanta, Galati, Iasi, and Bucharest.
 


"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati will host the International Festival for local/traditional products from the SE area of ​​the Black Sea. The action is organized within the project LOC FOOD ("Local development and cross border cooperation in the area of ​​agricultural products and traditional food") - BSB 1101 (www.locfood.eu).



The second and third-year students from the specializations of the Faculty of Naval Architecture from "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati participated yesterday in a meeting with representatives of the Damen Galați Shipyard. "In classroom D 01, we had guests from Damen, who told the young people about the opportunities of a career at the Shipyard and the possibility to be supported during the academic year with private scholarships if they have good results at school. We are glad that Damen's private scholarship program has resumed after the pandemic period, and we are waiting for student’s CV's for pre-selection, said Associate Professor Gabriel Popescu, Ph.D. Dean of the Faculty of Naval Architecture".


"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati is included in the global Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2022. For the second consecutive year, the institution occupies the 5th position among the 13 prestigious Romanian universities and is in the margin of 801-1000 in the general ranking.
 


The REXDAN project - a 20 million euros research project, was presented to the European Parliament in a special audience.
 


"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati participated yesterday in the official ceremony of the VIA Cahul Tourist Cluster, which took place inside the "Nicolae Botgros" Palace of Culture in Cahul. The VIA Cahul cluster is a tool for economic development in the Cahul region and aims to attract over 40 actors interested in tourism development in this region, representing tourism businesses, public authorities, research-development-innovation institutions, and catalyst institutions.


The Naval Architecture Research Center, within “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, invites you to participate on Saturday, April 30, at 11.00, on the Danube Cliff, the Miniport pontoon, at the launch of a floating unit. The prototype, catamaran type, with radio control, was designed by a mixed team of researchers from the Faculty of Naval Architecture and the Faculty of Automation, Computer sciences, Electronics and Electrical engineering and aims to collect plastic waste from the water surface.
