Exhibition organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bucharest entitled “In the Rhythm of the Epoch. The Life of Kazimiera Illakowiczówna”

His Excellency, Mr. Marek Szczygiel, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Bucharestwill be the guest of honour of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, Friday, 24th of April 2015, at 11:30, at the opening of the exhibition entitled “In the Rhythm of the Epoch. The Life of Kazimiera Illakowiczówna”
  
Kazimiera Illakowiczówna (born in 1888 in Vilnius; deceased in 1983 in Poznań) was one of the best known Polish poets. An extremely good translator of literary works, she worked in the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and she was the personal secretary of Marshal Józef Piłsudski (1926-1935). Kazimiera Illakowiczówna dedicated many years to truly knowing Romanian spirit and to promoting Romanian culture in Poland.
 
The exhibition consists of 38 reproductions of some photographs, informative texts and archive documents, illustrating the relationship between Poland and Romania in the 1920’s and during the 2nd World War, as well as the actions carried out by Kazimiera Illakowiczówna to improve the relations between the two countries.  
 
The event will be organised by the Embassy of the Polish Republic in Bucharest and “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, in the framework of the UGAL CULTURAL project.
The exhibition will be held at “Nicolae Mantu” open cultural space located in D building of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati.
