Rector’s Greeting 

With more than three-quarters of a century of existence, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati has constantly contributed to the evolution of higher education, scientific research and, generally, cultural life, becoming the largest institution with such a profile in the south-east of Romania. From year to year, we are adding more and more academic recognition to our record, the results of our activity being certified by the inclusion of our institution in the relevant national and international top rankings.

The historical background, the large number of personalities educated here over time, in various fields, as well as the permanent involvement in the community make “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati an important part of the local and national Romanian society.

The strategic objective of our University is to provide a quality-oriented educational process, results, and increased opportunities for graduates to integrate into the labour market. We are the best alternative in the region for young people who want to study and at the same time, we are preparing ourselves to be more competitive and more accessible in the internationalization trends of higher education in Romania. In this direction, we have a generous educational offer and a modern education and research infrastructure, which is in permanent development, and we are preparing to adopt new partnerships with the business environment and with local and regional institutions.

I wish for an open and cooperative University, where traditions, values, and culture are the elements that bind us together. A strong and high-performing academic community is first and foremost a united community that encourages and supports the involvement and initiatives of every member within its ranks.

Our University is a family and we are all responsible for institutional balance and development. We all have to learn from each other and we must encourage the joining of today’s values, innovative and mindsets with the experience and wisdom of the past.
