Information regarding the registration for the admission procedure for citizens from non-European Union states

Citizens from EU third-countries are admitted to studies in Romania based on a selection of their applications files and once admitted they shall pay tuition fees. When applying for arts or sports study programmes, international students may be required to present their portfolio.

The minimum amount of tuition fees for third-country citizens is provided in the Government Ordinance no. 22/2009 regarding the establishment of the minimum amount of the tuition fees, in foreign currency, for citizens studying on their own in Romania, from states that are not members of the European Union as well as from those that are not part of the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, approved by Law no. 1/2010.

PREPARATORY YEAR

Since in “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati the instruction language is Romanian, foreign citizens from non-European countries will be registered for undergraduate and postgraduate studies only after graduating the Romanian language preparatory year on the basis of a certificate proving Romanian linguistic competences. During the preparatory year the candidates will learn the necessary Romanian language vocabulary as well as the specific vocabulary needed for the future studies (anatomy, physics, chemistry, etc.).

The Romanian language course delivered by “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati is focused on medical vocabulary and also on sciences, humanities, economics and engineering sciences.

Students attending the Romanian preparatory course are required to pay a fee of 220 Euro/month.

Required documents:
1. Application form for the Letter of Acceptance, filled in entirely – 2 copies:

2. Study document - certified copy and translation - which qualifies the person for the respective form of education (baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent) and which must be endorsed by the authorities of the issuing country;
Original diplomas issued in states that are not part of the Hague Convention Apostille will be authenticated by:
  1. the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the issuing country, the Embassy/ the Consular Office of Romania in the issuing country and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania or by;
  2. the Ministry of National Education from the issuing country, the Embassy/ the Consular Office of the issuing country in Romania and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
3. Transcript of Records - copies and certified translations - related to the studies carried out and the analytical program, in case students request the recognition of some study periods;
4. Document confirming the residence abroad – copy;
5. Birth certificate – copy and legalised translation;
6. Passport – copy;
7. Medical certificate - in an international language – confirming that the person who is going to enroll does not suffer from contagious diseases or other conditions incompatible with the future profession.


Submitting the documents for enrolling at undergraduate studies

High school graduates with a Baccalaureate diploma or an equivalent of a high school diploma may register for undergraduate studies.

5.    Document confirming the residence abroad – copy;
6.    Birth certificate – copy and certified translation;
7.    Passport – copy;
8.    Medical certificate - in an international language – confirming that the person who is going to enroll does not suffer from contagious diseases or other conditions incompatible with the future profession.

Application procedure:
  • Before coming to Romania, non-EU students should have their documents endorsed by the Romanian Embassies in their own countries and then they should obtain a valid study visa in Romania.
  • Candidates send the files directly to the accredited or temporary accredited higher education institutions that they choose. The higher education institutions evaluate the files according to the regulations in force and communicate to the Romanian Ministry of National Education the list of persons (within the limit of 10% over the number approved for students who can enroll, according to the regulations in force) proposed for issuing the acceptance letter;
  • The list of candidates will be sent to the Romanian Ministry of National Education and will be accompanied by a copy of the study documents, a copy of the passport and the applications for issuing the Letter of Acceptance for studies, filled in by the candidates:
  • The letter of acceptance, issued by the Romanian Ministry of National Education, is the final document, necessary and compulsory for foreign citizens from EU third countries in order to study in Romania;
  • The Ministry of National Education sends the Letter of Acceptance to the higher education institution and, as the case may be, to the diplomatic missions.

File assessment

Within a maximum of 30 days from the submission date of the complete file the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas will assess and communicate the decision.

This deadline can be extended appropriately in case of additional checks or consulting external experts.

Until the time of completion, the files that do not meet the following conditions are not processed:
  • contain all the documents specified in the published list;
  • all the fields in the standardized form must be filled in.

The registration will be done according to the calendar established by "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati until the end of the first semester of the academic year for which the approval was issued, according to the legislation in force.

Upon registration, the candidates will present the documents in the Application File, originally, intended for authentication by the Romanian Embassy in the issuing country or with the Hague Apostille as the case may be, together with the Letter of Acceptance for studies and the passport with the study visa.
