On July 19, 2024, at the "Carol I" Central University Library, the 17th reunion of French-speaking researchers, grantees of the "Eugen Ionescu" Doctoral and Postdoctoral Scholarship Programme, was organised by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) - Central and Eastern Europe Branch and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by the grantees of the programme, representatives of Romanian universities hosting French-speaking researchers and representatives of AUF Romania.

“Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati was represented by Professor Rodica-Mihaela DINICA, institutional coordinator of the programme for DJUG, together with the 10 researchers, coming from countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Mali and Togo, who had the opportunity to carry out a 3-month research mobility at UDJG.
 
At the event were present:
  • Mr. Sergiu NISTOR, Presidential Counselor, Personal Representative of the President of Romania for Francophonie;
  • Mr. Traian HRISTEA, State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania;
  • Mr. Eric POPPE, OIF Representative for Central and Eastern Europe;
  • His Excellency, Mr. Hassan ABOUYOUB, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Romania, President of GADIF;
  • Mrs. Mireille RĂDOI, General Director, Central University Library "Carol I", Bucharest;
  • Mr. Mihnea COSTOIU, Rector of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest;
  • Mr. Mohamed KETATATA, Regional Director, AUF-Central and Eastern Europe.
 
This year, AUF Romania registered 566 applications for the 120 scholarships available, i.e. 67 doctoral fellowships and 53 postdoctoral fellowships. Moreover, the scholarship recipients, who come from 27 different countries, will carry out their internships in 25 Romanian universities that are members of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie.
 
The "Eugen Ionescu" Doctoral and Postdoctoral Scholarship Programmeaims to support researchers and doctoral students from AUF member universities in member countries of the International Organization of La Francophonie and Algeria, to benefit from a scientific mobility for a period of 3 months in a higher education institution in Romania that is partner of the program. These grants enable researchers to improve their research skills at an AUF member university in Romania. The program is funded by the Government of Romania and implemented by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie in Central and Eastern Europe.
