The Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation (UEFISCDI) has finalized the monitoring and evaluation reports of exploratory research projects (PCE) carried out during 2021-2023. In this context, the project "Dynamics of REsources and Technological Advance in Extracting Renewable Energy from the Marine Environment DREAM (PN-III-P4-ID-PCE-2020-0008), whose director is the academician, Prof. Eng. Eugen RUSU, PhD, director of the Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD) of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, obtained the Excellent rating and was declared the most successful project in terms of scientific publications.

The main objective of the project was to assess the wind parameters expected by the end of the 21st century, starting from the high dynamics observed in recent years for the wind industry in the marine environment and considering the targets set by the European Green Deal for the countries of the European Union.

Results from the atmospheric models available from the Swedish Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (RCA4 climate model) were processed and analyzed, and on this basis, the performance expected from the latest wind energy extraction technologies was evaluated. In addition, data from the climate model was analyzed and compared, ALADIN63 thus creating a more complete picture. An analysis of expected extreme events in the marine environment was also carried out. Based on the analyses carried out, it was concluded that the energy resources in the marine environment will continue to be particularly significant in terms of renewable energy extraction. Also, the intensity and frequency of extreme events are expected to increase in the coming years.

9 activities were carried out, foreseen in the work program, and the dissemination of the results was carried out through many publications as follows: a monograph (ISBN 978-606-669-386-8, 295p), over 60 publications in international journals (of which 40 in journals with an impact factor higher than 1). The published papers total a cumulative impact factor of 165,781). Also, over 70 presentations were made at national or international conferences.

The dissemination was also carried out through the website: https://dream.ugal.ro/index.php and 4 international workshops were organized.

In parallel with the DREAM project, two other exploratory research projects were carried out during the same period, coordinated by professors from DJUG. It is about the project “New Emerging Concepts for Food Functionalization, through the Transition from Probiotics to Meta-biotics, as a health promotion strategy (Biotics +)”, coordinated by Prof. Gabriela Bahrim, PhD, and the project “New biosensors and intelligent instruments for ultrasensitive detection of olive oil adulteration”, coordinated by Prof. Constantin Apetrei, PhD. These two projects also achieved an Excellent rating.

All PCE projects carried out at DJUG obtained the maximum grade, on which occasion we congratulate the implementation teams!
