"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest and the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Constanta, organized today, in the Senate Hall, an event dedicated to the Centenary of the Republic of Turkey and the celebration of 145 years of Turkish-Romanian diplomatic relations.

Attending the ceremony, His Excellency, Mr. Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest, stressed the importance of cooperation between the two states, materialized in the field of education at "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati. In turn, as host, Professor Puiu-Lucian Georgescu, PhD, Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, thanked the Turkish officials for their openness and availability and made a presentation of the history of DJUG's bilateral relations with Turkish universities.

"The collaboration of DJUG with the institutions from the Republic of Turkey began in 2003 and continues to this day. Together we started projects worth approximately EUR 500,000. "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati and Abdullah Gul University, Kayseri are members of the alliance for European Universities - Qn Alliance European University for Quality, Quintuple-Helix & Query-driven Educational Ecosystems. The academic activity is carried out at DJUG based on important principles for the local, regional, national, and European community - multiculturalism and plurilingualism. The intensification of our university's presence in the world educational space, favored by its location in an area of mutual circulation of values on the East-West route, is a priority of the internationalization activity", said Professor Puiu-Lucian Georgescu, PhD, Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.

The event was attended by dozens of students, who learned on this occasion about the "Türkiye Scholarships" scholarship program, available for bachelor, master, and doctoral fields, a program that offers students and researchers affiliated with DJUG the opportunity to complete their professional training at the most prestigious universities in Turkey. The action continued with a series of academic presentations and an artistic moment held by the "Kalofonis" Ensemble.

Based on a partnership already concluded between "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati and the Ministry of Education of Turkey, Turkish language, culture, and civilization courses have been organized at the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of History, Philosophy, and Theology of DJUG since 2022.

In figures, DJUG has concluded a number of 66 inter-institutional agreements with universities from the Republic of Turkey and has been involved in 5 Erasmus+ KA2 projects - Cooperation between organizations and institutions. In the last 4 years, 112 incoming students have chosen to develop professionally by studying in Galati, 90 members of the academic and administrative staff from the Republic of Turkey have exchanged experience within DJUG, 45 Romanian students have continued their studies in Turkey and almost 70 members of the academic and administrative staff of DJUG have exchanged good practices within partner universities in the Republic of Turkey.
