"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest and the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Constanta, organizes, at the headquarters of the higher education institution in Galati, on December 12, at 12:30, an event dedicated to the Centenary of the Republic of Turkey and to the 145 years of the Turkish-Romanian diplomatic relations.

The event will be attended by His Excellency, Mr. Özgür KIVANÇ ALTAN, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest and Professor Puiu Lucian GEORGESCU, PhD, Rector of DJUG, it will start with the singing of the state anthems and the speeches of the two. This will be followed by a brief presentation of the history of DJUG's bilateral relations with the Turkish universities, and an artistic moment supported by the "Kalofonis" Ensemble, a vocal-instrumental band of early Romanian music, which will perform some pieces from the XVIII century, composed by Dimitrie Cantemir.

The event also contains a series of academic presentations: "The Geopolitics of the Black Sea in Modern Romanian-Turkish Relations (1878-1940)" - Professor Arthur-Viorel Tulus, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology, "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati; "The Turkish-Tatar community in Romania and migrations to Turkey between the two world wars" - dr. Metin Omer,Faculty of History and Political Sciences, "Ovidius" University of Constanta; "Cultural dialogue West - Orient in Dimitrie Cantemir's writings" – professor Simona Antofi,Dean of the Faculty of Letters, "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.

On this occasion, it will also be announced the opening, for 2024, of the "Türkiye Scholarships" scholarship program, available for all fields of bachelor, master and doctoral studies, a comprehensive program that offers students and researchers the opportunity to complete their training at the most prestigious universities in Turkey. Registrations are open between January 10 and February 20, 2024, online, only on the https://turkiyeburslari.gov.tr/ website. The tuition fee, accommodation, transport, pocket money, health insurance, but also the equivalent of a Turkish language and civilization course are provided.

We remind you that based on the partnership concluded between "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati and the Ministry of Education of Turkey, initiated and mediated by Mrs. Gülten Abdula Nazare, president of the Galati branch of the Turkish Democratic Union in Romania, the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology of DJUG organize courses on the Turkish language, culture and civilization taught by Professor Mehmet Kocakaplan, PhD, at Marmara University in Istanbul.
