Between October 19-20, an anniversary edition of the Danube Rectors' Conference Network took place at the West University of Timisoara, with the theme "Forty years of overcoming divisions: Importance of higher education for democracy and culture". "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati applied and was admitted to this organization, being now among the 65 members from all over Europe.
The event was attended by the rectors of the universities in Romania and Danube countries, along with diplomatic representatives - Ambassador of Romania in Vienna, Emil HUREZEANU and Ambassador Martin EICHTINGER from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.
During the two days of the conference, the participants analyzed the role of the organization in the structures of European higher education and outlined its directions in the future. Among the topics discussed during the conference were aspects related to the consequences of the Russian invasion on the facilities of the universities in Ukraine, their functioning in wartime, as well as the phenomenon of academic migration induced by war.
Danube Rectors' Conference (DRC)is a network of 65 universities from the Danube riparian states, which aims to develop higher education and research in this region, by promoting member universities, establishing, and facilitating bilateral and multilateral contacts between the universities.
