The construction of the largest research vessel on Europe's inland waters, which was financed through the Competitiveness Operational Program, Call: POC/448/1/1/Large R&D infrastructures, through the project "Integrated system for complex environmental research and monitoring in the Danube River area, REXDAN, 127065", will arrive tomorrow, Thursday, August 31, in Galati.

The REXDAN ship was built at ATG Shipyard in Giurgiu and, after a water journey of 343 km, will anchor at APDM's Schengen pontoon (34 Port Palace of Navigation Street), around 14.00.
"We can practically say that starting Thursday we will have functional the most important research center in this part of Europe, thus putting Galati on the world map of research", said prof. Puiu-Lucian Georgescu, PhD, Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.

The REXDAN ship will cover a vast geographical area (2,000 km on the navigable side of the Danube, from Sulina to Passau-Germany) and will allow research operations within the 9 laboratories, corresponding to multiple specializations (chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science, ecology, bathymetry, topography, atmospheric chemistry, sustainable development, etc.).
