During the weekend of 29-30 September, children, and adults from all over the country are invited to discover the extraordinary world of science through hundreds of activities aimed at curious minds of all ages, in an event of the European Researchers' Night series. The event held this year under the theme "ReCoNnect – Research for Health" brings the research area of excellence in Romania in front of the public and focuses on how science can contribute by developing solutions for human and environmental health.
The organizers have prepared game areas, contests with prizes, experiments, debates, or conferences on topics of interest in research. The largest research institutes and some of the most important higher education institutions in Romania have joined efforts to offer a spectacular experience to the public.
The European Researchers' Night takes place annually in over 300 European cities, and in Romania, this year, it will take place in the ReCoNnect consortium in 20 locations. Many of the events will also be streamed online on Facebook and Youtube (on the Education for Science Community channel).
In Galati, the event will take place in the Science Campus on Domneasca Street nr. 111, in Buzau the visitors are expected at EUROCAMPUS headquarters, on Hangarului Street nr. 8, and in Braila, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Engineering and Agronomy, on Calea Calarasilor nr. 29.
As usual, the organizers aim to show the public what it means to be a researcher and how interesting research work can be.
There will be spectacular chemical experiments, demonstrations with robots, zero-degree meetings with policemen and their anti-drug and anti-alcohol tests, kart races, heat and electric engines, meetings with doctors and extrication specialists and, finally, artistic demonstrations, together with the professors of the Faculty of Arts.
