On July 1, 2023, we celebrate professor Cosma TUDOSE, Ph.D. A strong personality, a model of professionalism, a man who has been involved with passion and a lot of work power in building a university, teaching, and scientific career, over 45 years of activity, and who has achieved results that must be offered as an example. Professor Cosma TUDOSE contributed to the development of the Galatian Higher School of Physics and created favorable conditions for training and education for many professionals, who serve and will serve the school patiently, passionately, and devotedly.
He worked at "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati for a long time, between 1960-2005, having remarkable results in his activity at the department, but also in the field of university management.

He graduated from "A. I. Cuza" University of Iasi, studying Physics. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in science, specializing in Physics, in 1960, he was assigned and occupied by competition the position of assistant at the Department of Physics of the Pedagogical Institute of Galati. From the beginning of his activity, he wanted to dedicate himself to a teaching career in a university. "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati is the institution where he will complete his professional destiny, an institution to which he dedicated 45 years of uninterrupted activity, successively occupying the positions of lecturer, associate professor, and professor. In 1968, professor Cosma TUDOSE acquires the scientific title of Doctor of Physics, for the thesis entitled "Studies and research on the speed of sound in aqueous solutions of electrolytes", under the scientific supervision of the reputed professor Constantin SĂLCEANU, Ph.D. from the University of Timisoara.

From the beginning of his university teaching career, in 1960, when he was employed as a university assistant, he climbed, one by one, the steps of the university hierarchy within the same department. In 1965, he held the position of lecturer by competition, in 1970, he held the position of associate professor, and from 1980, the position of professor, tenure of the discipline of Physics until 2005 when he retired.

The scientific activity of professor Cosma TUDOSE resulted in the publication of 15 scientific monographs, university courses and collections published in local or national publishing houses, all in the field of physics, applied and technical physics. Along with the books he published, the professor had an important contribution to the scientific research through a number of over 70 scientific papers in the field of technical acoustics, by participating in national and international conferences and congresses (from countries such as France, England, Czech Republic, Italy). He also contributed to the contractual research activity in 11 projects, eight of which as coordinator.

For his professional competence and managerial spirit, he was chosen in many managerial activities. Thus, between 1972-1974 he was dean of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry, and between 1981-1985 he was dean of the Faculty of Pedagogical Education. As a member of the academic staff, he contributed to the establishment of the Faculty of Letters and Sciences in 1990 and the Faculty of Sciences in 1991. He was head of department between 1992-2005, actively contributing to the development of the university as vice-rector between 1990-1992. As head of the Department of Physics, he dealt with its development, managing curricula, analytical programs, but also staffing the department with appropriate academic staff (teaching and non-teaching) in the field of physics and ensuring a modern material base.

He was a Senate member of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati between 1981-2002 and a member of the academic councils of the Faculty of Sciences (1990-2005).

Between 1974-2000 he was the President of the Romanian Society of Physics-Chemistry, Galati branch, on which occasion he organized scientific sessions that were also held with the active and enthusiastic participation of teachers in pre-university education. Along with these recognitions of the prestige of the Researcher and Teacher, Cosma TUDOSE enjoys the appreciation and recognition of colleagues, disciples, students, and all acquaintances. Endowed with the virtue of the discretion of a personality dedicated to teamwork, builder of institutions in the noble sense of cooperation of people motivated by high ideals, waster of constructive energy and human feelings, professor Cosma TUDOSE has imposed himself as a true leader, whose power to influence people around him to follow is based on the enthusiasm with which he contaminates the audience,  the confidence it inspires, the example it represents. His humanity and ability to do things well and purposefully, his active and bright presence with warmth of soul and sentimental generosity won him not only the respect, but also the affection of the academic and professional community of physicists.

In 2016, at the proposal of the Faculty of Sciences and Environment, the University Senate awarded Mr. Cosma TUDOSE the title of Professor Emeritus. Currently, the professor is the director and senior editor at the "Dunarea de Jos" University Foundation Publishing House, with 25 years of activity.
In his retirement years he wrote seven books (other than physics): travel diaries and other subjects appreciated by friends and the local press.
