The Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, Professor, Ph.D.  Puiu-Lucian GEORGESCU participated today, December 28^th, in the signing of the contract regarding the realization of the feasibility study for Galati airport. Together with the president of the Galati County Council, Costel FOTEA, the president of the Braila County Council, Francisk Iulian CHIRIAC, and the representatives of the companies that will carry out the study.

For the realization of this project, the Galati County Council works together with the Braila County Council, following the partnership assumed within the Intercommunity Development Association for Transport Infrastructure of Strategic Interest in the Eastern and Southern area.

"First of all, congratulations on the work that you and your teams have done, starting from the idea of this airport, which is a very old one from before the Second World War, and that after many plans and many words materialized in this extremely serious studio in which "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati does its duty as a supporter of the community and participates directly. It is for the first time that the University's expertise is officially included in the consortium that will provide the feasibility study and the design part.

The 25,000 members of the academic community are a coagulating factor for Galati and Braila, they were before and we note with joy that this community develops in harmony, which is what we all want, and things must work in the best conditions. We will do our work in the best quality conditions and with all competence. Congratulations once again to the two presidents and their respective teams for this achievement and God willing, we will meet again when the feasibility study is accepted and when the airport construction contract is signed." The Rector of the University stated.

The association made up of 17 companies will deal with topographical, archaeological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental, obstacle, and hydrological studies. At the same time, within the same contract, design activities for the cargo and passenger terminal, runway design, installation systems, signaling systems, alarm and alerting in case of fire, electrical installations, and utility design relocation will be carried out.
