"Dunărea de Jos" University of Galati, together with the European Commission and the European Parliament, is organising on 19 September 2022, the Conference "HORIZON EUROPE - Funding opportunities for Romanian researchers and enterprises". Horizon Europe is the main EU funding programme for research and innovation, it is one of the largest research and innovation programmes in the world with a budget of 95.5 billion euros. It facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation on the development, support, and implementation of EU policies, whilst considering global challenges.

"As the host institution, we are honored by the presence of the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, as well as the Horizon Europe Rapporteur, Dan Nica – Member of the European Parliament, together with representatives of DG Research, UEFSCDI, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization, the Ministry of Economy, universities and research institutes from Romania, as well as national and regional entrepreneurs", said the Rector of the University "Dunărea de Jos" of Galati, Prof. PhD. Eng. Puiu-Lucian Georgescu.

"The aim of the event is to raise awareness as to what concerns the opportunities Romania has to benefit from the Horizon Europe programme, how to make better use of the available extension tools, how to participate in the EIC and how to increase participation in the grant part. At the same time, regional economic agents, researchers, and directors of research institutions will interact with DG Research, UEFSCDI and governmental specialists to establish efficient ways to access European funds and grants in research projects", said the spokesperson and Vice-Rector of the University "Dunărea de Jos" of Galati, Dr. Alexandru Nechifor.

The conference will take place at the Dramatic Theatre "Fani Tradini" in Galați, 59 Domnească Street, starting at 13:00. The European Commissioner's visit will continue at the University's administrative headquarters, where several working meetings and press statements will take place.
