A team of three professors from the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati and one from the "Nicolae Testemitanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, coordinated by Professor Kamel Earar, Ph.D.,  from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Galati, won a series of gold medals at 4 different invention salons. These are the invention salons in London, Toronto, Zagreb, and Warsaw, all held this year.

The invention relates to a process for decontamination of the endodontic space and that with pathogenic periodontal microorganisms used in the field of dental medicine. The use of two unconventional treatment systems is used: injection of 5% hydrogen peroxide, chemically stabilized, and DENMAT - SOL, laser antimicrobial photodynamic therapy.
 
Judicious mechanical-chemical decontamination, assisted by the co-existence of the two unconventional treatment systems, is the key to success in the treatment of extensive chronic apical periodontitis.
 
The advantages of this procedure would be: efficient decontamination, easy to apply, eliminates the risk of developing bacterial, fungal, and viral resistance, has a synergistic effect, provides good resistance to recontamination, reduces the time required for treatment, prevents by limiting the affected area. In addition, the process is inexpensive, has a small number of working steps, and the components are easy to purchase.
 
The team consists of Professor Kamel Earar Ph.D., Senior Lecturer Anamaria Zaharescu Ph.D., Senior Lecturer Gabi Topor Ph.D., all three from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy within DJUG, and associate professor Oleg Solomon Ph.D., from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu", Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Orthopedic Dentistry "Ilarion Postolachi".
 
The two universities, "Dunarea de Jos" from Galati and the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu", have also developed joint projects, but are at the first collaboration in the field of invention.
