In the period 16-17 May 2019 it is organized the Cross-border Regional Workshop "Environmental Pollution of Aquatic Ecosystems of Danube-Black Sea Basin", at Institute of Zoology, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – partner of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati in the Project code BSB27 MONITOX “Black Sea Basin interdisciplinary cooperation network for sustainable joint monitoring of environmental toxicants migration, improved evaluation of ecological state and human health impact of harmful substances, and public exposure prevention”, Joint Operational Programme BLACK SEA BASIN 2014-2020.

At the event participated the Project Manager, Prof.dr.habil. Antoaneta Ene and key staff members from "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati – Prof.dr.eng. Gabriela Elena Bahrim, Prof.dr.eng. Luminita Moraru, Prof.dr.habil. Adrian Circiumaru, Assoc. Prof.dr. Mihaela Aida Vasile – and from partner institutions of the project and INPOLDE reseach center, ReForm-UDJG multidisciplinary Platform: Institute of Zoology (coordinator Prof.dr.hab. Elena Zubcov), Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology, Kavala, Greece (coordinator Prof.dr. Thomas Spanos); Institute of Geology and Seismology, Chisinau (coordinator Dr. Oleeg Bogdevich) and Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development Tulcea (coordinator Dr. Liliana Teodorof).

The main themes debated at the regional workshop are: Methodological aspects of complex ecotoxicological investigations of transboundary aquatic ecosystems in Danube-Black Sea Basin; Classes of toxic substances, with emphasis on the radioactive isotopes and level of nuclear radiation doses in Lower Danube region and Black Sea Basin; Emerging persistent pollutants in aquatic ecosystems – pharmaceutical compounds; Evaluation of aquatic ecosystems based on microbiological parameters; Environmental challenges in Nestos river and its delta, Northern Greece; The study of toxic organic substances in aquatic and agricultural systems in the Republic of Moldova: persistent pesticides, PCBs, PAHs; Seasonal dynamics of nutrient concentrations in surface waters from the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.
