Organised yearly by the Department of English of the Faculty of Letters of “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați, the Students’ Symposium “William Shakespeare” is a cultural event meant to bring together students and scholars interested in Shakespeare studies.

The tradition of organising Shakespeareana in Galați continues this year with the twenty-second edition which includes several types of activities involving first-, second- and third-year students of the Faculty of Letters. The symposium will open with a paper presentation session which gives students the opportunity to present their research on various Shakespeare-related themes. Then, a drama performance and a film workshop will entertain the audience while raising issues concerning Shakespeare’s reception in the contemporary popular culture.
