Also, the University will provide staff training and professional reconversion programs dedicated to the new technology, aligning with the European Commission's strategy in the fields of battery cell production for electric vehicles.

The excellent collaboration we have with MEP Dan Nica, Galati City Hall and Minister of Economy at that time, Florin Spataru, has paid off, and Galati will benefit from a smart investment that will produce accelerated development throughout the region", said professor Puiu Lucian Georgescu, PhD, Rector of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.

Romvoltis a project consisting of a lithium-ion battery factory to be built in Galati, with a total production capacity of 22 GWh and a total investment of 1.4 billion euros. It will supply battery cells mainly for the automotive industry, where Renault/Dacia and Ford are located in Romania, but also for the stationary market, as storage is necessary for the transition to renewable energy.
The factory will create thousands of jobs in different departments, plus jobs created indirectly.
